Control technology for hydropower
Safety is the top priority
Walcher places a huge level of importance on the safety of its hydropower plants. As well as the compulsory mains protection, we offer generator protection, speed monitor, emergency shut-down concept, feed back protection, monitoring of the hydraulic unit, lightning protection, monitoring of control voltage, and much more. The protection concept is individually adapted, to fit the size of the plant.
Control via internet / smartphone
Our systems can be remote controlled via the internet (using VPN access) or by smartphone, if required. In addition, the control system can trigger error messages and warning messages as SMS or email. Cameras can also be connected as an optional extra, in order to remotely monitor the inlet before the screen cleaner.
For hydropower plants with several machines, we offer our own developed optimisation control system (joint control). As a result, the machinery is set to the operating point with the best overall efficiency. This increases the annual work (kWh) by up to 5%. Optimisation control is also recognised by experts in accordance with Section 23 of the German Renewable Energies Act 2012 to increase the performance of the plant. This results in a higher feed-in tariff.
IEC 60870-5-104 telecontrol protocol
Control systems by Walcher can be equipped with an interface for the IEC 60870-5-104 telecontrol protocol. This means power stations can easily be connected to an existing telecontrol unit.
